How many stories did we read as children that ended with those six words? I can’t think of any stories from my youth where the bad guy won and everyone suffered his wrath. Ultimately, we all love to see a happy ending, and there’s no ending happier than finding true love.

I’m a sucker for a good love story, one where two people overcome adversity in the name of love. In fables past that adversity could have been a tower where the princess was held captive and forced to forgo regular haircuts, or a wicked step-mother who wanted to keep a pair of impractical shoes from her step-daughter. Whatever the case may be, the Prince and Princess always found a way to be together, moat full of flesh-crazed piranhas be damned.

Love is the most powerful force in the Universe. We all want to find love; it’s a basic human need to love and be loved, and we can’t deny feeling a sense of completion once we do find it, even if it’s the unconditional love from a pet. This is why I decided to write stories that have a romantic thread, if not the main theme, in them. It’s heartwarming reading stories where love truly conquers all, and I feel so grateful to be able to touch the hearts of others.

What are your favorite fables, and how would you write them differently? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
